Tumblr Tags – How to Follow or Search Tags on Tumblr

Published by Tumble Guy on March 2nd, 2012 |

Following the article on how to find blogs and people to follow on tumblr, this is another way of searching other blogs to follow when you’re new.

Tracking a tag is also a way for you to follow different topics you are interested in and get updates when new posts are tagged with the tags you are tracking. Tracking a tag does not mean everything for that tag shows up on your dashboard.

Here’s a tutorial on how to start tracking tags on Tumblr.

How to track tags on Tumblr

  1. First, you need to search a tag. You can do this by typing a topic or a keyword you wish to track on tumblr’s search from as shown on below. The search form is located on your dashboard at the right hand side of your screen. In this example, I’ve searched for the word “mega man”.

Click Track to Track a Keyword

  2. Click enter and this will open the tracked page for that keyword. Click “Track” to start tracking this keyword.
  3. The keyword will now be added to your Tracked Tag List on the right side of your dashboard. When new posts with the tag you’re tracking are posted, the number on the right side of the word on your tracked tag list will increase. when it reaches more than ten posts, it will just show 10+

Maximum Tags you can Track

There is no maximum number of tags you can track. However, once you’ve followed 20+ tags, you will no longer see any notifications next to the word you’ve tagged. If this starts happening, try and delete some tags until you are only following 20 keywords or less.
